Of canted rectangular octagonal form, decorated in shades of gilding and iron-red with a central oval cartouche with armorial and motto 'Probitate' within an elaborate Chinese landscape, with figures at leisure on garden terraces, the sides decorated with panels of lappets and geometric designs, all raised on eight carved lion-paw feet, highlighted in gilding, the interior similarly decorated with an arrangement of seven boxes and covers, and twelve rectangular trays, eight depicting playing cards, including the King and Queen of diamonds

Literature A version of the arms and crest can be seen illustrated on two armorial porcelains services, Chinese Armorial Porcelain, London, 1974, Vol I., page 492, where the author D.S.Howard suggests the original designs were adapted from a bookplate.
Condition In overall good condition, some minor age related losses.
